Jesogammarus annandalei (TATTERSALL, 1922)

Previously described as Gammarus annandalei from the Far Eastern water by Tattersall (1922). This is the common aquatic amphipod of 1 Lake Biwa. It is abundant on a muddy bottom in from 50 to 77 metres and occurs more sparingly in shallower water. It is also found, both in China and Japan, in ditches and similar situations. The young apparently conceal themselves more carefully than the adults and their occurrence in the patent exhalent channels of a sponge (Spongilla clementis) is noteworthy. (Tattersal, 1922)
